Classes for children ages 7-15 

 

Artist, Hilda Vandergriff, will offer a watercolor painting session and a Chinese Brush session.  

                                 

Hilda taught children to paint at the Visalia Art Gallery and the Hanford Art Center last summer.  Her goal is to bring out creativity and teach art techniques that children will enjoy. Art is fun and stress free. 

 

Her teaching style brings lots of enthusiasm and positive thinking to her classes.  She is an accomplished artist who shares her art at charitable events and participates in exhibitions.  She is a member of various art organizations.

In the watercolor session students will learn some of the following art techniques:

  • Learn color values
  • Learn to mix colors using the primary colors

  • Learn to paint light and shadows in your art

  • Learn to add texture and watercolor techniques in your paintings

  • Learn to paint background washes in your art
     

Learn to paint from nature, add washes and texture, use charcoal in your paintings and make cards using watercolors in this 5 day session. 

In the Chinese brush session students will learn some of the following art techniques:

  • Learn how to paint with Chinese brushes

  • Learn to paint with Chinese ink

  • Learn about the variety of Chinese calligraphy strokes

  • Learn to paint bamboo, fish, flowers, mice, dragonflies, etc.

  • Learn about Chinese art materials

  • Learn to paint on rice paper

Five day session August 10-14, $75.00

Learn the tradition art of Chinese brush painting while learning to paint bamboo, dragonflies, flowers, fish, and mice.  This session also includes making cards and painting on Chinese rice paper.
