Jonna was born and raised in Fresno, California. In 1995 she moved to Sacramento.  After 10 years she returned home to family and friends.

 

Growing up she lacked parental support for her creative pursuits, but her innate gift for art - evidenced early when Jonna won a drawing contest at the age of 9 - led her from pen and ink drawings through portraits and murals to the stunning art glass she creates today.

 

Her artistic skills, though largely self-taught, have been amplified by classes and honed by hands-on experience designing and producing elaborate windows for the worldwide company "Stained Glass Overlay".

 

In the late 1990's, Jonna's focus turned to creating hand-carved vases and bowls.  Apprenticing with a noted artist, she perfected her techniques, developing a style that is uniquely her own.  Her passion for animals, flowers and the out doors infuse and inspire most of Jonna's creations, while her love of children (with whom she's worked for over 25 years) influences her more whimsical work.

 

But perhaps best of all, Jonna's wonderful eye, masterful skill, and fertile imagination enable her to work on commission, creating customized art for any theme or occasion.

 

The lengthly process of covering each piece of glass with a tape resistant to high pressure sandblasting, designing and freehand drawing on that tape, cutting in a multi-layered method and lastly carving the design with the sand, produces a beautiful piece of "art glass" with dimension and depth.  Even more important, because it is hand made, Every piece is an original work of art.  There are no mass produced, carbon copies.  So you can be sure when you add art glass by J.
